The Jewish Genealogy Indexing and Research Collective (JGIRC) was founded by Banai Lynn Feldstein, a professional genealogist specializing in Jewish research.
Banai was previously the President or and is the Treasurer and Webmaster of the Utah Jewish Genealogical Society, was a Co-Chair of the 34th IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy in 2014, and was the Lead Web Developer for the IAJGS for several years. She has volunteered at numerous IAJGS conferences, in 2007 and 2014-2017. Banai is also the creator of GeneaSearch and CSI: Crowd Sourced Indexing.
Over the years, Banai has participated in indexing projects for JewishGen SIGs, FamilySearch, and the Czernowitz Group, as well as indexing several other record groups on her own. She wanted to work in records that might help her own research and that were being overlooked by other communities.
Banai founded the JGIRC to index Jewish records and to conduct research on a grander scale. The first large record group indexed by JGIRC was the 1938 Uzhgorod Voter List, which didn’t help her research at all.
Records indexed on this site can be ordered through the search/order form. You can also contact Banai at order@jgirc.org.
